The skill upgrade menu for Support

As well as the basic functions of moving and shooting, each ship has three different skills. These skills make the ship more effective, and tactical use of skills by a team can make the difference between winning and losing.

Ships start with each skill at level 1. Through expense of scrap, these skills can be leveled up to level 8. The effect of upgrading a skill varies between skills. Skills cannot be transferred over when upgrading ships, however the scrap cost of skill upgrades is subtracted in full from the cost of upgrading the ship. Skill upgrades can be applied using the Q, W, and E hotkeys, and take immediate effect.

Skill effectiveness depends on both the skill level and tier, with higher tier ships having stronger skills. For example, if both the Base Ship and The Moth have the Passive Scrap skill at level 1, The Moth will accumulate scrap almost twice as fast.

Each ship has an active skill, which is activated with the right mouse button. At least one of the upgradable skills will relate directly to this active skill. Most active skill have a cooldown time, limiting the frequency of their use.

Other upgradable skills may permanently increase a player's health or weapon damage, or induce a passive effect either on the player's ship, or on ships in a defined radius of the player's ship.

List of skills[]

Stat-increasing[]

The following skills, when levelled up, permanently increase the basic stats of your ship.

Name Ships with this ability Effect
Movement speed
Upgrading permanently increases ship speed by 10 u/s.
Weapon damage
Upgrading permanently increases weapon damage by 2
Hull increase
Upgrading permanently increases max health by 5.

Also heals the user by the same amount.

Increase shot range
Upgrading increases the range of the main weapon by 10 units.

Passive[]

The following skills have a continuous effect that the player does not directly control.

Name Ships with this ability Effect
Passive scrap
Gives 20 scrap at regular intervals.

Upgrading skill decreases length of this interval, resulting in faster scrap acquisition.

Repair in radius
Slightly heals all friendly ships within displayed radius at regular intervals, including the player.

Does not heal turrets or the base.

Upgrading skill decreases length of this interval, resulting in faster healing.

Crit chance
Regular shots against enemy ships have a small chance of doing extra damage.

Upgrading skill increases this probability.

Damage in radius
Slightly damages all enemy ships, turrets, and the enemy base within displayed radius at regular intervals.

Upgrading skill decreases length of this interval, resulting in faster damage.

Self-repair bots
Heals self by 10 health at regular intervals.

Upgrading skill decreases length of this interval, resulting in faster healing.

Active[]

The following skills are active skills that can be activated by right-clicking. Most have a cooldown time, restricting their frequency of use. This cooldown timer can be seen in the bottom right of the screen.

Name Ships with this ability Effect
Timed shield
Creates a temporary shield around the player's ship that adsorbs 80% of incoming damage.

Upgrading this skill increases the duration of the shield and reduces this skill's cooldown time.

Burst heal
Significantly heals all friendly ships within displayed radius including the player.

Does not heal turrets or the base.

Upgrading skill decreases the cooldown time.

Sniper shot
Deals a large amount of damage to the enemy ship nearest the cursor. If no ship is in range, skill will not activate. Though not unlimited, the range of this shot is much larger than that of the main weapon, and can hit targets offscreen.

There is currently no animation for this shot.

Upgrading this skill decreases the cooldown time and increases the damage dealt.

Burst heal and speed
The effect of Burst Heal, plus a temporary speed increase to all ships affected.

Upgrading this skill decreases the cooldown time, and the amount and duration of the speed increase.

Basic turret
The M.O.D. can build a basic turret at the point where the player right clicks at the cost of 250 scrap.

Upgrading the associated skill results in stronger turrets.

Advanced turret (skill)
The D.O.D. can build an advanced turret (similar to the basic turret, but with greater damage) at the point where the player right clicks at the cost of 250 scrap.

Upgrading the associated skill results in stronger turrets.

Long-range turret
The Alert can build a long-range turret (similar to the basic turret, but with greater range) at the point where the player right clicks at the cost of 250 scrap.

Upgrading the associated skill results in stronger turrets.

Healing pod
The Mechanic can build a healing pod at the point where the player right clicks at the cost of 200 scrap. This will heal friendly ships, turrets, and the base for its short lifetime.

Upgrading this skill results in pods that live for longer and therefore do more healing, also increasing heal frequency.

The cooldown time for healing pods is negligible. Healing pods will not heal other healing pods.

Area damage buff
Friendly ships within a short radius of the user, including the user himself, will temporarily have a red glow, and will deal extra damage.

Upgrading this skill increases the duration of this effect and decreases the cooldown time.

Area shield
Friendly ships within a short radius of the user, including the user himself, will each be given a timed shield, which will reduce incoming damage by 80%.

Upgrading this skill increases the duration of this effect and decreases the cooldown time.

Basic drones
Creates, at the cost of 200 scrap, a basic drone which will fly around the ship and occasionally fire weak shots at enemies. Drones may sometimes intercept hits for the player.

Uniquely for the Engi, each drone created reduces the ship upgrade cost by 200 scrap.

Upgrading the associated skill results in stronger drones.

Advanced drones
Creates, at the cost of 200 scrap, an advanced drone which will fly around the ship and occasionally fire weak shots at enemies. These drones are slightly stronger than the basic drones, and have a different design. Drones may sometimes intercept hits for the player.

Upgrading the associated skill results in stronger drones.

Sniper drones
Creates, at the cost of 100 scrap, a sniper drone which will fly around the ship and occasionally fire weak shots at enemies. These drones have a greater range than the basic drones, and have a different design. Drones may sometimes intercept hits for the player.

Upgrading the associated skill results in stronger drones.

Suicide drones
Creates, at the cost of 100 scrap, a suicide drone. A player may accumulate up to 5 suicide drones at a time. Suicide drones will, without direct player action, fly towards any enemy which gets in range, where they will explode and deal significant damage.

Upgrading the associated skill results in stronger drones.

Explosive damage
Upgrading this skill results in suicide drones that do more damage.
Increase maximum drones
Upgrading this skill increases the maximum number of drones a player may have at any one time
Stealth
Makes the player temporarily invisible to the enemy (allies will see a translucent ship). While in stealth mode, a player cannot be hit by enemy fire.

Stealth mode has a maximum duration, and can also be exited early by firing.

Upgrading this skill increases the maximum duration of stealth mode, and decreases the skill cooldown time.

Upgrade costs[]

The cost of a skill upgrade depends on both the current level of the skill and the current ship tier.
